Carl Edward Krieger passed away peacefully at his home with his family on August 3, 2023, in The Villages, Florida where he lived with his wife since 2003. His daughter, Mary (Betsy) Krieger, lived with her parents for nine months so that he could remain at home. He was born in Circleville, Ohio on December 18, 1935 to Mary Claudine Dray and Roy Edward Krieger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald, and infant sister Eleanor. He grew up on a dairy farm where he developed his strong work ethic milking cows twice a day and growing crops. After graduation from Ashville Harrison High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Ruth Grove on May 30, 1953 and they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. They spent most of their lives in Washington C.H., Ohio where they raised four children and owned an Allis-Chalmers farm equipment dealership, Krieger Equipment. He later worked at Gusweiller Chevrolet. The family were all active members of First Baptist Church where Carl was a deacon, sang in the choir, and served on the board of trustees. One of his greatest joys was actively serving on the building committee for the new sanctuary and he was often late for dinner because he checked the progress daily. Carl is remembered as a good and honest man who loved time spent with his family and friends and retirement in Florida. He loved traveling to Alaska, Canada, Germany, Hawaii, Caracas, and Jamaica, and many wonderful camping trips with his family throughout much of the United States. He loved computers, technology, working outdoors, and fixing things. Some of his happiest times in the last few years were dancing and having fun at the My Time program at Hope Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Douglas (Brenda) Krieger, and daughters Cherryl (Chris) Frye, Betsy Krieger, and Melissa (Mark) Weaver, his grandchildren Aaron (Amy) Hartley, Kyle (Danyale) Krieger, Seth (Sony) Frye, Zachary (Stephanie) Frye, Nicholas (Marya Johnston-Macintosh ) Frye, Megan (Bradley) Culbertson, Mackenzie (Nicholas Freeman) Weaver, great grandchildren Lauren Hartley, Kali (Gideon) Meyer, Nicholas (Sarah) Meyer, Dirk Eckle, seven great-great grandchildren, two nieces, Karla Krieger and Kim Henretti, a brother- in-law, William Grove, and a cousin Marvin (Patty) Valentine. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 12 @11:00 at the Mulberry Recreation Center in The Villages and lunch will be served following the service. A memorial service at First Baptist Church, Washington C.H., on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, the My Time program at Hope Lutheran Church, or First Baptist Church, Washington C.H.
