Philipp Stephen Weissmann

Philipp Stephen Weissmann 71, passed away peacefully on 15 November at Estelle’s Hospice House in Ocala, FL; surrounded by his loved ones.  He was the husband of Johnny Willis. They have shared 22 years together.

Born at home in West Berlin, NJ to Nicholas Michael and Rosa Violet Weissmann.  He attended the Culinary Institute of America and was Chef at Tavistock Country Club, NJ; Kings Tavern in Medford, NJ, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC;  the Heritage and PA’s Restaurants in Florence, SC; and at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC.

Phil loved entertaining and cooking for friends and family. He loved doing his Christmas drop ins and hosting family Thanksgiving.  He shared his love of cooking by teaching many of his family and friends his best dishes. When they retired and moved to the Rolling Greens community in Ocala, FL he jumped in and became an active participant in the community including holding positions on the board.

Phil is survived by his husband, Johnny Willis, son Joshua (Kim) Marcus and grandson Brett;  his son Daniel (Nicole) Marcus, his sister Donna (Paul) Bundick, brother Michael Weissmann, his sisters-in-law Martha Willis Ray and Marguerite Willis, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Rosa Weissmann, his sister Cindy Briles, sisters-in-law Suzanne Weissmann and Mary Neal Willis Groover, and brother-in-law Frank Willis.

A private memorial for the family will be held at a later date, in lieu of a public memorial, the family asks that you hug your loved ones and celebrate with each other with good food and drinks.
