Jana Cristine Ambrose, affectionately known as “Sparkle-Farkle,” illuminated the lives of those around her with her vibrant spirit and unwavering love. On March 23, 2024, at AdventHealth Ocala, Jana unexpectedly embarked on her final journey, leaving behind cherished memories and an indelible legacy. She was 53.

Born on November 18, 1970, in South Bend, Indiana, to Craig F Newton and Pamela Frobish Newton, Jana’s journey through life was marked by resilience, kindness, and an enduring zest for living. She spent her formative years in Central Ohio, attending Westerville North High School and graduating in 1989. Over the years, Jana touched numerous lives through her diverse career path, including roles as a customer service representative at Discover Card Services and DSW in Columbus, Ohio, and as a flight attendant for SkyBus. Jana’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional endeavors, as she lovingly cared for children as a nanny, forming deep bonds that enriched her life. Although she didn’t have biological children of her own, the children she cared for held a special place in her heart.

Despite facing health challenges, including complications from diabetes that led to the loss of sight in her right eye, Jana remained resolute in her determination to live fully. She sought solace and comfort in her grandmother Normalee Frobish’s condo in Florida, a haven where she felt her grandmother’s presence and found peace amidst life’s uncertainties.

In her leisure time, Jana reveled in the simple joys of life, relishing moments spent at the beach, indulging in shopping excursions at Chico’s, and forging meaningful connections through water aerobics classes and her involvement in the Swim Club at Silver Springs Shores. Her faith was also an integral part of her life, as evidenced by her membership at Church of Hope in Ocala. Jana’s compassionate spirit extended even beyond her passing, as she selflessly chose to become an organ donor and donated her eyes for research, contributing to the advancement of medical science and the fight against diabetes-related vision loss.

Jana’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones, including her mother, Pamela Lykens; sister, Jill Campbell (Eric); nieces, Daisy (Noah) Six, Lilly Campbell, and Lola Campbell; her cherished golden retrievers, Newton and Honey Bee; as well as extended family members, friends, and community members whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.

Jana was preceded in death by her father, Craig F Newton, and her grandparents.

In honoring Jana’s memory, a celebration of life service will be held at New Life Church Gahanna (3690 Stygler Rd) in Gahanna, Ohio, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 2 PM followed by a reception. A second celebration will take place at Silver Springs Shores Community Center (590 Silver Rd.) in Ocala, Florida, on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 2 PM allowing friends and loved ones from near and far to pay their respects and reminisce about the joy Jana brought into their lives.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jana’s honor to Champagne’s Critter Sanctuary, a cause close to her heart, where her legacy of compassion and caring for animals continues to thrive like in the care for “Gazoo”, the one eyed horse at the Sanctuary! Jana’s light may have dimmed on Earth, but her spirit shines brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May her memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to those who mourn her passing.
