October 3, 1932 – July 2, 2024

Nancy Carol Nickles passed from this life in the care of
Hospice of Marion County, Ocala, Florida. Nancy was born in
Coeburn, Virginia to Luther and Elsie Helbert, the third of their

five children.

She was raised and attended school in Coeburn, where she had
many interests like roller skating, which she pursued from her
teens to well into adulthood. And she loved sketch drawing,
especially cartoon figures and young children, sewing, and a life
long love of reading, especially Western novels, which was
topped only by her love of cats. She was an accomplished archer
in her younger days and often won friendly target competition

between family and friends.

Nancy loved everything about the desert Southwest and spent
several years in Arizona before returning East. She continued to
read the Western novels she grew to love as a girl throughout
her life and enjoyed Western movies, as well. Her music taste
was eclectic spanning everything from waltzes to Elvis.
She was a good mom who spent years as a homemaker raising
her 3 children and caring for her home. She made a fantastic
beef pie that everyone loved. Her chicken soup and homemade

bread were second to none.

She is proceeded in death by her late ex-husband and father of
her children, JR Nickles, two brothers Howard Helbert and
Robert (Bobby) Helbert, and one sister Anna Sirh. She is
survived by one sister Donna Hurst of Tennessee.

Nancy is also survived by her three children all of Florida Luther
Nickles, Debra Nickles, and Daris Smith. She was a
grandmother to two grandsons: Aaron Brouwer of Florida and
Scotty Smith of Georgia, and five great grandchildren.
