Steven Halberstadt of Ocala, Florida died at home on April 28, 2022 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Janet Halberstadt, her daughter Reeda Lingenfelter and grandson Jeremy Cessna, and Steven’s son Jim Wengrenovich provided support and care, and were with Steven as he transitioned from this world. He is survived by two brothers, Jerry and David Halberstadt; his wife, Janet Halberstadt and her children Reeda and Chuck Lingenfelter; and his children Sheila Levy, Susan Nosadak, Sheri Kosmas, and Jim Wengrenovich, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Steven was a gentle and sweet man who spent over 40 years helping others and bringing many to believe as he did about Jesus. Steven was predeceased by the mother of three of his children, Margaret McCree, as well as his parents Ernst and Luba Halberstadt, and a brother, Jon. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and most importantly a friend to so many whom he loved, and who loved him in return — too many to list here, but they know who they are. For each of them he will always be fondly remembered. His faith took him the distance, and he looked forward to an eternal life.
As a teenager in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Steven won the New England Foil Fencing Championship and competed in sports through high school and beyond. He was an exceptional small boat sailor, loved being on the water, fishing, photographing and painting waterscapes. He was also an excellent cook, known for his seafood dishes — and it was said by all who knew him that he never met a lobster or Essex fried clam he did not love. He attended Rindge Tech where he learned the many skills which served him and others so very well throughout his life. After graduating from Rindge he joined the Navy where his love of motorcycles and high speed resulted in a rain swept crash that destroyed his knee. Hence his early departure from the Navy, where he had enjoyed world wide cruises that led to his lifelong love of travel.
Steven had early success as a photographer, first in his father’s Boston studio, and then his Uncle Hal’s studio in San Francisco. Later he had his own commercial photo studios in San Francisco and on Cape Cod. His sense of art and design culminated in his sign making business, Weatherwood Signs, where he created beautiful signs that have lasted over 50 years. Steven was a lifelong learner, and as technology evolved, Steven shifted to computer generated and laser cutting his artful designs at his last company, Destiny Signs. Digital photography allowed him to bring his images to life on his computer not in a darkroom. Always a man of contradictions, even as he honed his skills as a digital artist, he returned in the last few years to traditional watercolors once again. He had a bright sense of humor and quick wit, and was known for his shaggy dog stories.
As a youth, Steven and his friends would clamber up the external fire escapes of the old Boston Garden and sneak in to watch his beloved Celtics. His love of the Boston Celtics continued through his last days, and he expected they would win it all this year with him cheering them on. We think he may have been on to something big. To our beloved Steven, always a believer in a world full of skeptics: goodbye, God Bless you, and Go Celts.

They are very caring people who take great care of your loved ones. They took care of my mom very respectful and considerate. Very affordable as well and keep you updated with the whole process. Would recommend them highly.
They were very respectful and polite. We were on a budget, as most people are when a loved one unexpectedly passes away, and they really helped us out with the cheapest prices we had seen and with virtually the same services as the other cremation places.
Did majority of the process online. Sarah and Nicole were both amazing, super knowledgeable, sincere, and extremely helpful. We live approximately two hours from location, and were able to take care of all the details remotely. Money is super tight, coast to coast cremations was reasonably-priced, handled everything with genuine care, and was super quick from the transportation of body to shipping of the remains. This is a fantastic place to use. They are kind, considerate, and very, very accommodating. They really go out of their way to help you during a very difficult time. No question is too much. Their price is very comparable.

Nothing can prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When our father passed away recently, my sister and I were left to process our grief while simultaneously working through what has to be done when someone dies. From the minute I first spoke to Kyle at Coast to Coast Cremations, I knew I was talking to someone who could help us navigate this process with patience, understanding and empathy. I cannot speak highly enough of Kyle; his knowledge and compassion made this difficult time so much easier. He was available any time we needed him, to answer any questions we had. We will always be grateful to him.
I was so lost hearing that my Twin Sister had passed away so suddenly, I had called Coast to Coast cremation and I was blessed to talk to Kyle Johnson, I really don't know what I would have done without his help. Kyle was so understanding and so caring, he helped me throughout this terrible time in my life and it didn't matter to him how many times I called he was so very caring, he made me feel that he was a close family friend and I will never forget this man for helping me through one of the worse times of my life, I knew that my Sister Gale was going to be well taken care of. We had to make a decision that no one wants to. We didn't know all the prearranged details and had to investigate which thought we resolved some days prior. We we didn't anticipate that we would be on the phone for hours calling one number to another, devastating; however everyone was very nice, politful and very helpful. Doing so Coast To Coast was one of the recommendations. We went with then and we were truly satisfied by their gentleness, professionalism, and very helpful in giving us advices. I do plan on using them when my time comes.

Never had I ever had to worry about burying someone. I didn't know where to start. I was exhausted with emotion . I had called other crematories and received very cold, shallow replies and then I called Kyle. Kyle , I just want you to know how much your kind voice and understanding meant to me. Kyle has made a difficult situation so much easier. I have never handled these situations before and Kyle guided me through everything. He understands that questions can come up at any time and uses texts and emails to communicate at all hours. He handled everything from working with the medical examiner, notifying Social Security and giving tips to locating life insurance policies. He expertise and knowledge was priceless.

I called around price comparing. Coast to coast crematory is the cheapest around. As soon as I gave them my father's information and location they immediately went and got him and started the paperwork for the process . Kyle was extremely kindhearted and kept me informed about each step. I definitely recommend Coast to Coast crematory ...caring, professional and affordable.

I was so upset when I lost my only son.. Not knowing who to call or what to do.. Upon making my decision to have him cremated, I called Coast to Coast and spoke to a wonderful gentleman named Kyle.. From that first call, he was always there for me, going above and beyond hiis job..Gentle, kind, understanding are only a few words to describe him.. He treated me with the upmost respect and showed such compassion...His kindness to me helped me tremendously and I will be forever grateful.. I would highly reccomend Coast to Coast..
