Roger R. Reece

Our family is saddened to announce that our father, Roger R. Reece, 87 years of age, passed away on the 5th of January 2023. Our hearts are comforted knowing that he passed peacefully in his home and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the King of Glory in heaven.
Born September 2, 1935, as the fourth child of Jack and Stella Reece, Roger is survived by his four children, Robin, Robert, Jackie and Lisa; his brother, Charles T. Reece (“Ted”) and his two children, Charles and Carla; as well as his sister Martha Meyer and her two sons, Patrick and Scott.

Roger spent much of his early life, including his high school years, in Ocala, Florida. He then proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he began his career at The Kennedy Space Center, then known as Cape Canaveral.

Roger worked in quality control for missile launch services with several aerospace contractors, including General Dynamics and Northrop Gruman, throughout the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. He was especially proud to be a part of the team responsible for landing the first astronauts on the moon. Upon his departure from the aerospace industry, he went on to successfully work several entrepreneurial ventures.

Upon his retirement, he returned to the Ocala area. He was very active in his community, church and neighborhood. He was always ready with a helping hand and a kind word. He will be missed by his friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Woodside Baptist Church located at 2450 NE 28th St, Ocala, FL, with a luncheon to be served immediately following. Visitation with the family will be held at 10:30 AM that morning. A
graveside service will also be held that same afternoon at 2:30 PM at The Florida National Cemetery, located at 6502 102 SW Avenue, Bushnell, FL. All family members and friends of Roger are encouraged to join together with us as we remember and celebrate his life at both
services.
