Jacob W. Beard

Jacob W. Beard passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023 at the age of 77 at Hospice of Marion County in Ocala, Florida. He died of natural causes.

Jake is survived by Linda, his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 52 years; his daughters Teresa Beard and Tamara Herchel; his beloved granddaughter Millie; and his sister Betty Dorman.

Born in West Virginia to Henry Harper and Elizabeth Beard, Jake grew up on his family’s farm in Pocahontas County. After graduating from Hillsboro High School, he completed coursework at Nashville Auto Diesel College in Tennessee.

Jake was a farmer and mechanic, and eventually relocated his family to Crescent City, Florida where he worked as the service manager at a local Chevrolet dealership. He loved driving John Deere tractors, watching NASCAR races, collecting classic automobiles, and participating in performance driving schools and SCCA racing.

He was loved by his friends and family, and he will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, his adventurous spirit, and his commitment to living an authentic life according to his own principles.

A private memorial service will be planned for later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Rhema Christian Center in Lewisburg, WV. https://www.therhemalife.com/
