Herbert H. Hesser Jr.

August 24, 1941 » October 25, 2023

On August 24, 1941, Herbert H. Hesser, Jr., was welcomed into this world, and on the warm evening October 25, 2023—with both peace and dignity– his journey ended.

In his 82 years of life Herb (or “Herbie” as his mother, Amelia, affectionately called him) remained a private man, but those few he allowed into his circle will attest to his passion for wildlife preservation, his enchantment with travel, and of course his feverish support of Kansas University basketball.

While many may be set in their ways, in his later life Herb discovered an interest in biking, kayaking, and especially dancing: a lesson to us all that a tiger can change his stripes.

He leaves behind two sons: David (Texas) and Michael (Michigan), a loving sister Sandra Dolezal (Kansas), and many nieces and nephews.  He joins his oft-remembered younger brother, Freddie, who preceded him to heaven.

A private service will be held for family members in the near future.

If you would like to celebrate Herb’s life, kindly consider making a donation in his name to the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) at https://protect.worldwildlife.org
