Harold Lee Scott

May 22, 1953 » July 4, 2023

Harold Lee Scott passed away peacefully at home in Lady Lake, Florida
on July 4, 2023. He was born and raised in Scottsburg, Indiana by the
late Laura Gay Scott, along with his brother Terry (Mallie) and sisters
Virginia and Cindy (deceased).

He went through the majority of his life with his best friend Greg
Chasteen (Sandy) by his side. They played baseball in high school, were
mischievous, and as they aged enjoyed several rounds of golf while
telling stories of their youth.

Harold graduated from Scottsburg High School, enlisted in the United
States Air Force and later became the proud father of two boys – Steve
(Barbara) and Paul (Yumi). He was a wonderful Dad, teaching the boys
how to fish, play ball, ski and coaching their soccer team. His love of all
sports included Indiana Basketball, and his most beloved Cincinnati
Reds. Then came his love for the game of golf, playing a round in almost
every state in the United States. Harold was even a lucky member of the
“Hole-in-one” club.

In 2015 he married Janis (Armes) Scott, his forever valentine, and
moved to Water Oak Estates in Lady Lake, Florida. Harold worked at the
golf course there for five years until they closed it for renovation.
In addition to those mentioned above, Harold is survived by his step-
daughter Bailey (Justin); grandchildren Jamie (Cody), Beau, Bonnie,
Justin; great-grandchildren Bethany, Evelyn, David and Raeleigh;
brother-in-law Stevie (Geneen) and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.

And his true love can’t be without mention…Maddy….his dog that
remained by his side until his last breath.

He was a proud member of Suburban Lodge No. 740 of Free &  Accepted
Masons in Louisville, Kentucky and American Legion Post 347 in Lady
Lake, Florida. Throughout his life he traveled and lived in many states
including Virginia and Utah, and made friends wherever he lived. He
kept in contact with many of them throughout the years. Harold had his
70 th birthday recently and received over 107 cards which shows how
much he was loved.

The Celebration of Life Services for Harold was held at the Main Club
House of Water Oak Country Club Estates from 12:00–1:00 p.m.,
Saturday, July 8 th . His final resting place will be at Florida National
Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, a military cemetery. Military Funeral
Honors will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July24th.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice who
provided excellent care, or to your local Humane Society.
