In Loving Memory of Gilbert R. Rodriguez
January 19, 1961 – March 7, 2025
With deep love and heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Gilbert R. Rodriguez who departed this life on March 7, 2025 at the age of 64 years old. Gilbert left behind a legacy of lived faith, generosity and unwavering service to others.
Born January 19, 1961, in Caguas Puerto Rico, Gilbert was a man of both skill and spirit. Joining the United States Naval Fighter Squadron Fourteen and working hard on an aircraft carrier was a significant point of pride for Gilbert. Following four years of active duty, Gilbert transferred to the Naval Reserve. Later in life, he continued his work with airliners as a highly respected aircraft technician for UPS and other companies.
Outside of his profession, Gilbert lived a life grounded in faith and compassion. A dedicated church volunteer, he could often be found lending a helping hand at community events, supporting church programs, or simply offering a warm smile and listening ear to anyone in need. His devotion to service extended far beyond the church walls.
Gilbert was especially passionate about giving back to those who served. As a committed volunteer, he shared his love for the outdoors by leading diving and horseback riding sessions with disabled veterans—creating moments of freedom, healing, and joy for those who had given so much. His kindness and patience brought light to lives that needed it most.
To his family, Gilbert was a loving son, a protective brother, a proud uncle, and a dependable cousin. He loved attending and hosting family gatherings and could always be counted on for a laugh at just the right moment or quoting a scripture verse for those in need.
Gilbert is now reunited with his father, Gilbert, mother, Maria and brother, Michael, who welcomed him with open arms. He is survived by his daughter Katherine (and her husband Edwin), grandchildren Ariana and Sebastian, brothers David (and his wife Marta) and Steven (and his wife Cindy), sister-in-law Theresa and mourned by a wide circle of friends and community members whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday April 26th, College Road Baptist Church 5010 SW College Road, Ocala. All who knew Gilbert are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
