George A. Borger

November 30, 1938 » April 24, 2026

George A. Borger, 87, died April 24, 2026 at his home in Ocala, Florida.
He was born November 30, 1938 in the German speaking town of Jakobsdorf, Romania. He was the son of George and Ilona (Durtja).

He immigrated to the United States in 1959 from Germany to Detroit. He met his wife Irene there and they married in 1962. In 1965 he became an American citizen and was very patriotic.

He worked for the automotive industry at Delta Model Company in Troy for many years. He later fulfilled his dream of being a business owner by running the Tee Pee Motel and Restaurant in Roscommon, Michigan from 1977 to 1991. During those years he could often be found in his beloved restaurant talking to customers or pouring coffee. His hospitality made people feel welcome and the business thrived, often with people lined up to get in, especially during the summer.

In another career move he then worked for the Roscommon and Crawford County Sheriff Departments, first as a volunteer and then paid.

He was well known for his crepes and would often host crepe parties for his family and friends where he would serve his thin European style pancakes.

Surviving are his wife of almost 64 years Irene, sons Hans (Heike) and Kurt (Cheri), daughter Monika (Mark) Jordan, sister Dorothy (Michel) Duchesneau and grandsons Shane and Trent.

He moved to Florida in 2002 but often summered in Michigan. He often pined for his beloved Roscommon so plans are for an eventual burial in the Gerrish Township Cemetery.
