Clara Ann Whitis

Clara Ann Whitis (Mayer) of Leesburg, FL (formerly Fredericksburg, VA), passed away on February 8, 2026, in Leesburg, FL.  Clara was born in Fort Eustis, VA to James and Mitsuko Mayer on November 18, 1955. She attended high school at Groveton High School in Alexandria, VA and graduated in 1973. She worked as a Supervisory Budget Analyst with the federal government for over 30 years.  Clara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Whitis of Leesburg, FL, her children Jenn Cooper (Jeff) of Fredericksburg, VA and Sean Whitis (Heather) of Herndon, VA, her brothers Jimmy Mayer (Maureen) of Lorton, VA and Leo Mayer (Vickie) of Woodbridge, VA, and her five grandchildren, Jeremy and Josh Cooper, Kathryn, Jack, and Sean Whitis, along with multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents James and Mitsuko Mayer, her in-laws Jack and Phyllis Whitis, her brother Peter Mayer and her brother in-law (William) Bill Whitis.
Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, VA. Date and time details to follow.
