Christine Joan Royce (nee Walczak)

Christine Joan Royce (nee Walczak) passed away on March 5th at the age of 75 at The E.W. & Lucille Cates Hospice House in Ocala, Florida.

Christine was born on March 19, 1946. She graduated from Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, PA in 1964. Following high school, she took accounting classes at Rowan College in Glassboro, NJ.

While Chris worked in both retail and hospitality, her true calling was caretaking. She moved from St. Augustine to Ocala to care for her elderly father. She enjoyed cooking him elaborate, healthy meals, bringing him to the VFW to see his fellow veterans, and coordinating his medical care. Despite his advancing age, she brought him on a road trip from Florida to Massachusetts in 2010 to spend time with his great-grandchildren. She described him as her best friend and mourned his loss deeply when he passed in 2017. Chris enjoyed spending time at VFW Post 4781 and served as a longtime president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons Marc DiCosimo of Scituate, MA and Frank DiCosimo of Plano, TX, grandchildren Amelia (age 15), Victoria (age 12), Noelle (age 12) and Vincent (age 4). She loved chatting with them on the phone, receiving their drawings by mail, and of course, their visits. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Walczak Ortals, as well as nieces Stephanie, Melissa, Whitney and nephew Jeff. She is predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Walczak, her father, Henry John Walczak, and her sister, Claudia.

She will be remembered fondly for her liveliness, quick wit, and tenacity. And she will be forever missed by those who loved her.
