Doyle Frederick Marriott

On Friday November 11, 2022, Doyle passed peacefully from this life in Ocala, FL. In keeping with his wishes, he passed at home surrounded by family, and his beloved dog Dixie. Following his passing, Doyle was cremated. There are no plans for a memorial at this time.

Doyle was born on August 31st, 1941 in Browns, Illinois to farmers Thomas A. (Artie) and Evelyn (Walker) Marriott. He graduated from Grayville high school Class of 1959 and served in the US Air Force. After attending college at Waubonsee, Doyle worked as a metallurgist for Caterpillar in Aurora, Illinois for 15 years, and for 12 years in rocket development at Aerojet in Rancho Cordova, California. Doyle moved back to Grayville in 1995 and married lifelong friend Barbara (Dixon)Walker. For 27 years they lived and worked together; restoring RVs, remodeling their homes, traveling, and enjoying life. Doyle loved fishing and telling stories. Although he endured a long hard fight against cancer, Doyle always said “tomorrow will be better.”

Doyle was preceded in death by his son Stanley Marriott, Parents Artie and Evelyn Marriott, Brother Bob Marriott, and Sister Dorothy Westmoland.

Doyle is survived by his wife Barbara Marriott, stepdaughter Cynthia Walker, Granddaughter Brittni (Steven) Marriott, Rock Hill, South Carolina and Grandson Chief Petty Officer Todd (Teela) Marriott San Tee, California, and Dear Cousins Lois Koontz Carmi, IL, Jean Zin Evansville, IN, and Bonnie Gay Carmi, IL.
