Albert M. Wano
Albert Michael “Al” Wano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on December 4th, 2024, at Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84years old. Al resided in Leesburg, FL after relocating from Woodstock, IL.
Born in Olyphant, PA, Al graduated from Olyphant High School before serving his country with honor for 3 1/2 years in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he went on to earn a degree in accounting, which laid the foundation for a long and successful career. For nearly 38 years, he worked at CNA in various roles, ultimately retiring in 2001 as the Director of Risk Management in Chicago, IL.
Outside of his professional life, Al was an avid woodworker, a passion that brought him great joy and allowed him to create beautiful, lasting pieces. His creativity, dedication, and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Wano, and his sister, Pauline Morris. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce (Black) Wano; two sons, Mark Garrett (Kristi) Wano of Tampa, Fl and Geneva, IL, and Eric T. (Heather) Wano of Land O Lakes, FL; two grandsons, Garrett and Alex Wano of Bartlett, IL; two granddaughters, Jordan Lawrence of Rome, Italy and Taylor Lawrence of Geneva, IL; a brother John Wano of Clark’s Summit, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Al’s name to the National Kidney Foundation of FL, 5756 S. Semoran Blvd., Orlando, FL 32822 or Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, 601 Mariposa Way, The Villages, FL 32162.
