Martin Howard Forster, known to many as Marty, passed away on April 10, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 74.

Born on February 28, 1952, in the Bronx, New York, Marty lived a life marked by resilience, talent, and deep devotion to the people and passions he loved. Born blind, he met the world with determination and grace, and he went on to live an extraordinary life that inspired all who knew him. From an early age, his gift for music was unmistakable. He began learning piano at the age of 4, and what started as a childhood gift grew into a lifelong calling that would shape his identity and touch countless lives.

Marty was a proud graduate of Southwest High School in Miami, class of 1970, and on to Perkins School of Music after high school. He later attended Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. His education reflected not only his love of music but also his desire to use that gift in ways that could uplift and connect with others.

He played with the reggae band alongside Pluto Shervington and was admired for his versatality, passion, and soulful style. He loved jazz fusion and appreciated the richness and creativity of music that challenged and inspired him. Marty was not only an excellent musician, but also a great singer and one hell of an entertainer and performer. Those who saw him perform remember his energy, his spirit, and the way he could command a room with both talent and heart.

Marty is survived by his wife of 43 years, Andrea, his brother Les (Betsy) Forster, and nephew Brian, his special friends Gary Ward, Steve Rucker, Harry Jacobson, and Tonya Dennis. He treasured his relationships deeply, and his family and friends were an important part of the rich life he built. The love and loyalty he gave to others werwas returned to him in the many lives he touched over the years.

He will be remembered for his extraordinary musicianship, his enduring spirit, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s challenges. Through he wa born blind, he lived an amazing life filled with accomplishment, friendship, and music that will continue to echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Martin Howard Forster leaves behind a legacy of kindness, artistry, and devotion. His life was a testamentet to the power of talent, determination, and a loving heart. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
