Shirley Ellen Cooper

Shirley Ellen (Curtis) Cooper, 69, of Mims, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Viera Hospital in Melbourne, Florida.

Shirley was born in North Tonawanda, New York, to Ralph George Curtis and Augusta Curtis.

She went to high school at Clifton Fine and graduated in 1975. She worked at McDonald’s in Canton for 9 years and then a plastic company for 10 years. Her last and most favorite job was at Challenger 7 Elementary School in Cocoa, Florida, as an after school childcare worker. Her students will dearly miss her.

Shirley is survived by her mother, Augusta, her husband Rodney Cooper, her daughter Lynn Whipkey and son Mathew Cooper, and her brothers Charles Newton Curtis and James Patrick Curtis. She is preceded in death by her father Ralph and her brother Ralph Curtis.

There will be no funeral service at this time but close family and friends will get together for a celebration of life at a later date.
