Richard Warren Steel Marshfield VT / Ocala FL March 24, 1956 – June 26, 2025

Richard Steel, a man of many passions and pursuits, left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. His life was a journey of distinct chapters, each one showcasing his unique blend of energy, dedication, and love.

In his younger years, Richard lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with unbridled enthusiasm. As he matured, he channeled this energy into serving his community, playing a pivotal role in establishing the emergency response team in Plainfield, VT.

His commitment to public service continued as he transitioned to Twinfield Union High School, where he spent years as the director of maintenance & transportation, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and students alike. After a fulfilling career, Richard retired to Ocala, Florida, where he and his “wifey”, Warrene, reveled in the warmth and camaraderie of the 55+ community. Richard’s passions were as varied as they were intense. He was a skilled builder, fabricating his own race car and taking to the track with a thrill-seekers grin. The great outdoors was his playground, where he indulged in countless hours of hunting and fishing, always seeking the next adventure. Richard was the son of William and Bernice Steel of Calais VT.

He is survived by his beloved son, Erik Steel, and his wife, Monica (Lamberton); his soulmate Warrene Goslant, her daughter Courtney & husband John Thompson, along with two grandsons John & Jase; his sister, Cindy “Tink” Gallas, and her children, Carly and Jamieson.

Those who knew Richard will cherish the memories of his larger-than-life personality, his wisdom, and his humor. Phrases like “You got your shoes on?”, “Do as I say, not as I do,” and “Hey, hun…” will echo in the hearts of those who loved him, serving as a reminder of the laughter, the lessons, and the love he shared so generously. Richard may be gone, but his spirit and legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.

A Vermont celebration of life gathering will be announced via Facebook by Erik Steel when the planning has been completed. A Florida gathering will also be announced by Warrene Goslant.
